I have the honour to refer to the recent visit to the University Hong Kong by Dr. Houat Jones and Xr, Walter Låsms of the Inter-University Council and to enclose for your information two copies of the report unde by them to the inter-University Council on their retura.

2. As I informed you in my telegram No. 867 the report recommends inter a grant to the University of £250,000 from the Colonial Development and Welfare higher education alloestion. This recommendation, as well as the other recommendations of the report, has been endorsed by the Executive Committee of

Inter-University Council and arrangementa are now being made for this ecommand>tion to be considered at an early date by the Secretary of State' Colonial University Grants Advisory Committee. A further communication will be addressed to you shortly regarding both this and the other recomendations made by Dr. Jones and Xr. Adana, which are slso receiving urgent consideration.

3. Copies of the report have been forwarded to .rofessor Ride by the Inter-Jiniversity Council.
